Thankfully, straws can help us from the staining that happens to our teeth over time when we drink too much coffee. Drinking your coffee with a straw can help you to get the coffee that you love without ruining your teeth. Coffee through a straw is easy if you love iced coffee.

If you prefer hot coffee, it might take some getting used to, but a metal straw might be the way to go.

2. Wine

Wine is another common teeth staining drink. Just like a wine stain can ruin a beautiful white dress, wine can stain teeth over time. Red wine is a deep staining liquid that can create a permanent problem.

Given that straws aren’t really an option for people who are enjoying a glass of wine, why not try a rose or a white wine. Lighter wines won’t leave as severe of stains and could be good for a change of pace.

3. Age

Believe it or not, simply aging can do damage to your teeth. Your teeth could naturally yellow over time because the enamel covering them gets thinner. As the dentin shows through, you risk darker teeth.

This could be exacerbated if you were or are a smoker. Your teeth will stain much more easily as you get older. If your pulp gets damaged, that could damage your teeth as well.

Tooth Discoloration Isn’t Inevitable

While you might think that tooth discoloration is going to happen to you eventually, it doesn’t have to be as bad as you think. With a good diet, persistent dental health habits, and avoiding smoking or drinking staining liquids, you could have white teeth long into old age.
